In the jewellery-making course taught by university lecturer Kaisa Hyrsky at the Craft Teacher Education program of the University of Helsinki, students drew inspiration from Karelian textile traditions for their coursework. At the beginning of the course, Mari Kosunen from the TRACtion Team gave a talk on the jewellery traditions associated with Karelian folk costumes. Many students mentioned their Karelian ancestry and incorporated elements from Karelian folk costumes into their jewellery designs.
