Research partners from Ireland and Finland recently visited St Clare College Secondary School – Pembroke, Malta, for a textile design workshop organised by TRACtion Traditional Costume Innovation.Textiles teacher Nicole Vella inspired students using a @suomumutku Finnish design learning model & resources designed by partners Dr Lorraine Portelli and Dr Zoi Arvanitidou from @University of Malta, Dr Mcsweeney and @yfa_design from ATU Sligo & ATU St Angelas & Professor Riikka Räisänen and @marikohanna from University of Helsinki.
The students were introduced to content and technical processes. They freely interacted with resource materials and developed stitched design responses.The workshop was attended by Dr Kathryn McSweeney from ATU St Angelas, Sligo, Ireland, Professor Riikka Räisänen and Mari Kosunen from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and Dr Lorraine Portelli from the University of Malta.
