We are preparing for a TRACTion workshop at ATU St Angelas on the 21st of February.  In this workshop, the team will explore traditional costume techniques and bring these techniques forward into a modern context. Our ATU St Angela’s team analysed Carrickmacross and Irish Crochet lace-making techniques. The research process included interviews with experts and an investigation of the methods. The designs and motifs have been digitised for use by designers and makers. 

At the workshop, there will be demonstrations of techniques and much discussion about innovation, creativity, education and potential entrepreneurial opportunities.  Carrickmacross and Irish Crochet lace are included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Aoife Moriarty @yfa_design @aoifesings will teach the workshop.  Research Support Officer Aoife Moriarty also took images.
