Join artist and lacemaker Fiona Harrington for a talk, workshop and presentation on contemporary Irish Lace as part of Culture Night 2023.

Gather early for our workshop at 6:30 p.m. Fiona will speak about the history of the Irish lace industry since the 1800s and explore the interesting trajectory of this unique craft form. Five different styles of lace in Ireland will be presented and demonstrated. There will be an opportunity for hands-on exploration of the lace samples. Fiona will discuss her unique art practice and how she has turned traditional hand techniques into compelling works of lace art. Antique and technical lace samples will be on display. Refreshments will be provided with time for discussion and chat.
